Who is dreaming in the 21st century a fairy-tale world
with people and landscapes of a lost beauty can be considered or a
dreamer, or a melancholic. But everything can become reality if hazard
helps you to be in the right place and at the right time.
White flying horses going up in the sky over mountains and springs are
replaced today by power-horses of jeep that explores hard accesibile
places, known by only a few people, and splendid luxxurious palaces are
now replaced by beautiful villas and boarding houses which welcome
all tourists.
A special place, having landscapes as those found in our childhood
fairy-tales, you may discover in the mountains "Obcina Humorului"
and "Obcina Voronetului" nearby the city Gura Humorului
(Suceava county). I took some pictures when winter covered
everything with a thick cloak of snow. Natural climate, wonderful comfort
and enjoyable meals bring peace, rest and relaxing walking, far from
the noisy life of the city. Local people, busy, friendly and good hosts,
are used with tourists coming here every month of the year. They value
both natural gifts and ancestors' holy works.
If you want to recover your inner peace, Voronet Monastery
(built in 1488 by Prince Stefan cel Mare and painted during
Prince Petru Rares) named "Sixtine Chapel of the Orient" and
Humor Monastery (raised in 1530 by Anastasia and
Toader Bubuioaga) can help you. They are here for centuries, being
guardians of these blessed places.
No effort is too big if you want to discover interesting
people, new traditions and Christian spirituality of Romania.
