Information about the Black Sea coast

Black Sea Beach ViewIt covers 245 km from the Chilia arm of Danube Delta and Vama Veche settlement but the holiday resorts are spread only on 100 km of this shore. The Black Sea coast has great natural factors among which you will be glad to find the saline aerosols, the beautiful beaches with fine sand, a lot of sunshine due to its orientation to the East (10-12 hours daily in July), a climate with Mediterranean influences and the salt sea water which reaches very quickly temperatures between 18-25°C during summer time. Furthermore, the low altitude facilitates the circulation of the marine currents. The breeze helps the atmosphere to improve its sodium chloride, iodine and sulfate aerosols which are benefic for people's health.
Black Sea Beach ViewDuring the time many lakes appeared along the sea shore, some of them still supplied by underground springs or rivers (as Siutghiol Lake), other lakes being supplied by fresh water sources (as Techirghiol Lake) so they have a saline concentration higher than the Black Sea water. Techirghiol is situated at 14 km from Constanta. You will find here a miraculous sapropelic mud having mineral and organic substances very good for the treatment of several diseases. Its first bathing facilities were built in the early 20th century due to the high salt concentration and mineralized waters. The lake was once a sea lagoon; now it covers 11 km2 and it has 10 m in depth.

Its first facilities are dated 1899. Nowadays these two small towns have a modern look. Another modern resort is Neptun. This place was Ceausescu family's favorite holiday resort (Nicolae Ceausescu was the President of the Romanian Communist Party until 1989).
